Welcome

Pete Kowalke/Peter Giri Singer/Songwriter & Performerpetergiri@hotmail.com

• Played guitar since 1963. Played piano from 6-years old on. Also play bass and some drums, and produce songs. Played with Cowboy, a major act on Capricorn Records, a division of ATCO, the same label as the Allman Brothers, Wet Willie, Otis Redding, and many others.

• Was an original member of Cowboy from 1969 through 1971.  Played large to semi-large venues, usually on a co-bill with the Allman Brothers. Played the Fillmore East twice in 1971, once with Jethro Tull and again with Spirit along with other acts.

• Wrote, sang and played on two albums with Cowboy during the time “Reach for the Sky” and “Five’ll Getcha’ Ten” and later a remake double-album of both of these called “Why Quit When You’re Losin’.

Jammed and played in Florida and California with many well-known fine musicians during the rest of the 70′s, 80′s and early 90′s, included Duane Allman and Berry Oakley (Cowboy period), Mike Campbell (played guitar for Tom Petty), Donovan, John Sebastion (Lovin’ Spoonful), Don Felder and Bernie Leadon (Eagles), Fred Tackett (Little Feat), and Liberty DeVito (Billy Joel).

In the later 90′s I set up my own studio and recorded local friends and my first solo CD entitled “Glad To Be Here” with the song “Positive Flow” around 2000.

Also, in the late 90′s, I began playing a lot around the central Florida area, including Universal Studios venues, Motown Café, and Margarittaville, corporate parties, and local places such as Gator Landing on the St. Johns River, playing for the Gators.

In 2002 I moved to Eugene, Oregon, to be near my grown-up kids, and to pursue my musical career in the fertile artistic ground of the west coast. I have been playing local and semi-local gigs here now for about 5-years. I also have my own in-home studio. I have played with, and gotten to know almost all of the best musicians in the Oregon area—and there are many, many, talented and great people here.

Some of the people I play with, and have played with are: Paul J. Biondi, Bryon Case, J.C. Rico, Vicki Stevens, Skip Jones, Russ Whitlatch, Mike Brewer, Mike Anderson, Rick Markstrom, Norma Fraser,  Natty-O, Sean Jackson,  Tim Donahue, Stan Becraft, Mike Johnson, Teri Carter, Axel Fleming, Nate Kaplan, Tim Patrick, Ramblin’ Amblin, Kelly Thibodeaux, Pete Berger, Boris Cannani, Bill Shreve, Hank Shreve,,and Lloyd Tolbert.

I am currently working on a new CD with variations of the aforementioned musicians. I have plans to take the project out into a larger circle and touring—out of state, possible out of country—we’ll see. Stay tuned.

Thanks,

Pete
